⚡ QUICK SPIN

Most leaders don’t have a thinking problem.

They have a seeing problem.

Same data.

Same situation.

Same team.

Different leaders…
See completely different things.

That’s not intelligence.

That’s perception.

🛠️ MY TURN

One of the most consistent patterns I see working with leaders in transition is this:

They’re not stuck because they don’t know what to do.

They’re stuck because of how they’re seeing what’s in front of them.

A situation gets labeled:

“This is a people problem.”
“This team isn’t strong enough.”
“This role isn’t right.”
“This market is too tough.”

And once that label is applied…

Everything starts to reinforce it.

Same facts.

Same inputs.

Narrower interpretation.

What changes the outcome isn’t more effort.

It’s widening the lens.

That’s the moment things unlock.

📚 THE BACKUP

We’re wired to do this.

The brain doesn’t see reality.

It builds a version of it.

Based on:

  • past experience
  • pattern recognition
  • emotional memory
  • speed

That’s efficient.

But it comes at a cost.

We don’t see what’s possible.

We see what’s familiar.

Which means most leaders aren’t responding to reality.

They’re responding to:

👉 their interpretation of it

🛠️ THE SYSTEM

Here’s the shift I coach leaders through:

Step 1: Name the Frame

What am I assuming is true?

Not what’s happening.

What I’ve already decided it means.

Step 2: Break the Frame

What if the opposite were true?

Not as a belief.

As a test.

Step 3: Expand the Aperture

What else could be true here?

What am I not seeing yet?

Step 4: Re-engage Reality

Given all of that…

What actually matters now?

That’s reframing.

Not positive thinking.

Not mindset.

👉 Perceptual expansion

đź’ˇ THE SHIFT

Most leaders try to solve problems faster.

The best leaders…

Slow down just enough to see them differently.

Because once perception shifts…

Decisions follow.

🤗 YOUR TURN

Take one situation you’re dealing with right now.

Write down:
“What I think is happening is ______.”

Now challenge it:

“What if that’s incomplete?”

Then ask:

“What else could be true?”

Stay there longer than is comfortable.

That’s where the shift happens.

👊 LET'S TALK

This is the real work in leadership transitions.

Not more answers.

Not more strategies.

👉 Seeing differently, in real time

Because once a leader’s lens expands…

Everything else moves faster.

If this hit, reply and tell me:

What’s one assumption you might be holding too tightly right now?
